Darryl & Kenny (Part 14 - Hospital)

“Mr Tay…. Mr Tay….” Darryl slowly opens his eyes and a female paramedic is calling out his name….

“Mr Tay... Can you hear me? Mr Tay….” The paramedic called out again and Darryl nodded his head…

“You have met with an accident and we are sending you now to the hospital... Don’t worry everything will be fine… You just take a rest and we will be reaching soon….” With that Darryl went unconscious again…

The next thing he heard was “Bed 12… awake… Called Dr Lim…” Within minute, someone called out his name…

“Hey, Buddy… Lionel here…Are you doing ok?” Darryl nodded…

“You have hurt your spinal disc during the car accident and the orthopedics are scheduling you for an op to replace the damage disc within the next 2 hours…”

“How did you know?”

“What a question? I am in A&E department remember? Supposedly to be off duty until I saw you being wheel in so decided to hang around to ensure you are fine…”

“Thanks…”

“Kenny is outside… I called him in…”

“Thanks…”

Kenny came rushing in…

Kenny: “Are you ok?”
Darryl: “Sorry to make you worry…”
Kenny: “Don’t be… You be ok… I have informed your family as well because I cannot sign the consent letter on your behalf…”
Darryl: “Thanks, Dear…”
Kenny: “Silly…That what we are in a relationship for right,,, To be there for each other…”
Darryl: “Dear, I got something I need to tell you…”
Kenny: “Not now... Nothing is more important than you getting well and live my future with me…”
Darryl: “But I need to tell you…”
Kenny: “I know what you want to tell me…”
Darryl: “Huh…”
Kenny: “I am not deaf and you guys are not that soft when you speak… It is not important at this moment… I just want you to get well and so I can lean on you and leech your fortune away…”
Darryl: “Then you should wish I am killed at the accident…”
Kenny: “Rubbish…. Look like I no need to be here at all since you can still joke…”
Darryl: “Don’t go… You know I need you…”
Kenny: “Of course I do…”
Lionel: “Hey, there is someone outside looking for you… So I assume is your parent”
Kenny: “I go out and bring them in… I see u in awhile….”

Soon Darryl was push into the operation theatre for the operation, everything went smooth… By the time Darryl is up, he is already in the ward with Kenny dozing off by the bedside…He tried not to wake him but Kenny seems to know that he is awaken…

Darryl: “Hey…. Did I wake you up?”
Kenny: “I must have dozed off… how long have you been up.?”
Darryl: “Not more than 5 min… Saw you sleep like a baby... Where are Mum and Dad?”
Kenny: “I get them go home first… Told them that I will be here and tomorrow morning they will come and look after you while I head to work…”
Darryl: “You actually tell them that…”
Kenny: “Yup… As you know your mum, I need to come up with something so that she can go home and rest…”
Darryl: “Thanks… But you should be home to rest… You didn’t really rest since last night…”
Kenny: “Am ok as you are ok…”
Darryl: “I am so sorry to make you worry…”
Kenny: “Yes, you should… Why are you so careless?”
Darryl: “I was just thinking of something and lost track…”
Kenny: “I know what you’re thinking of…”
Darryl: “You do?”
Kenny: “You don’t call me Mrs Tay for nothing, right? It got to be something to do with Kelvin…You guys have a fling and you are thinking of how to break the news to me right?”
Darryl: “Not even close… I don’t have fling with him and I am thinking of how to sort it out with him then to break the news to you…”
Kenny: “I don’t know how you going to sort it out? Look like I need to fend off my competitor… Hmmm”
Darryl: “You seriously not concern about this…”
Kenny: “I can’t stop him from feeling for you… Who am I to tell him anything? It’s you who need to know what you want…”
Darryl: “I know I want to be with you and only you but last night when he suddenly lean over and kiss me I was caught by surprise…”
Kenny: “He KISSED you…”
Darryl: “Erm, yes…. Am sorry and I know I shouldn’t have but….”
Kenny: “Relax la… I’m not angry…”
Darryl: “You are not?”
Kenny: “Because I heard what you say this morning about you loving me so I know that you really love me and if you can turn back time, you will not allow it to happen…”
Darryl: “If only I can turn back time… But I can’t”
Kenny: “Just don’t think about all these at the moment… Concentrate in getting well so that we can spend a lot of time together…”
Darryl: “But I promise Kelvin will talk to him tomorrow”
Kenny: “Leave that to me… I have already informed him about your hospitalization.”
Darryl: “OK…”
Kenny: “I’m sure if he care for you, he will not pressed to talk about it now…OK… Get some rest… “
Darryl: “OK.. But I need to pee…”
Kenny: “Go ahead…”
Darryl: “Erm… I need help…”
Kenny: “Darling, you are attached to the urine bag… So just pee…”
Darryl: “Oh… I din even noticed…”
