Love Is... (Part 79 - The Gifts)

Back at home…

Darryl was busy preparing dinner at the kitchen when Kenny arrived home… He put down his stuff and head to the kitchen… He gives Darryl a hug…

Kenny: “Mrs Chew, I am home”
Darryl: “I can hear you coming shouting from the door…”
Kenny: “Hahaha… So are you cooking today?”
Darryl: “Erm… Let me see… Winter melon soup, some fried vegetables, steam fish and also a fried egg with prawn… Enough?”
Kenny: “Are you kidding? You do realize it only the 2 of us only right?”
Darryl: “Yup but I seldom cook so might as well cook more and surprise you ma…”
Kenny: “You already surprise me when you say you are cooking… Thought of it, I have never eaten anything that you cook before…”
Darryl: “Of course you have… The breakfast you eat this morning don’t drop from the sky, Dear…”
Kenny: “Oh well… It just hotdogs, egg and bread… I can do that too…”
Darryl: “Fine, then you be cooking breakfast tomorrow for me then…”
Kenny: “No problem… Must reward my dear for cooking me dinner…”
Darryl: “We shall see whether you can wake up or not lar…”
Kenny: “I will…”
Darryl: “You go take a shower and nap… Once dinner ready, I will wake you up…”
Kenny: “Don’t want… I want to help… Let me go change first and I will be back… Or maybe I should just strip naked and be your naked assistant… Hahahaha…”
Darryl: “Ya Ya… You and your wonderful idea…”
Kenny: “Of course… Must reward you for working so hard… Oooo… I feel something”
Darryl: “Hey… Hands off… Wait I chop off your hand…”
Kenny: “You wouldn’t dare…”
Darryl: “I have the knife in my hand… Want to try…”
Kenny: “NO… Hahahaha… I go get change first and I will be out to help you…”

After dinner, both of them were sitting on the couch cuddling each other while Darryl told Kenny about the conversation he had with Robin at the airport before he departs.

Darryl: “You know though I am sad that he left, but somehow I feel happy for him because today there is just a glow in his face that had been missing for the past month when he was here…”
Kenny: “I am glad that you are feeling for him… Things might not be that bad after all… Who knows the next time we meet up again, he will be healthy than before…”
Darryl: “I hope so too…”
Kenny: “Oh yes, before I forget… I’ll be right back…”

Kenny stood up and walks into the bedroom… Within minute, he came back and sat right in between Darryl’s legs…

Kenny: “There you go… The present that Robin passed to me on the day of lunch”
Darryl: “Oh wait for mine…” Darryl stood up to get the presents and passed it to Kenny…
Kenny: “I wonder what so secretive about the presents… When he passed to me, he asked me to hand it over to you only on the day he left and also only to open it together with you…”
Darryl: “And these are what he passed me today as well and he said the same thing…”
Kenny: “So we got 2 presents each from Robin?”
Darryl: “I guess so…”
Kenny: “Ok… let’s open the earlier present first…”
Darryl: “OK”

They opened up the presents at the count of 3… Darryl got a pair of air ticket to France and Kenny got a pair of air ticket to Australia… Both of them are shocked… These are way too expensive to receive but both of them are smiling from ear to ear… Then they decided to open up the second presents… They open it up cautiously but a note was being attached to the box and required both of them to read it first before opening up the final wrapper… So Kenny took the note and read it out loud…

“To Darryl and Kenny,

Both of you must be wondering why am I doing this. Well you see, when I first get to know that you 2 are getting together I didn’t really get you any gift for both of you. So the air tickets were kind of like making it up for it but the second present that you are going to open is an appreciation that I have for both of you staying a true friend to me and also Tommy…

Thank you for being my friend and thank you for showing what true friend I have… Tommy may not be with me anymore but I am happy that I still have both of you… My days maybe numbered,, maybe lengthen, maybe… I don’t know… But for the past months, you guys have showered me with lots of love that I will never forget… This is just a small token from my heart to you guys… What you given me is priceless…

Darryl hugs Kenny from the back and look at him…

“Thank you, Mrs Tay…”

“Thank you, Mrs Chew”

They open the box together and inside the box… Darryl’s box contains a beautiful watch and Kenny has an identical piece but that’s not all… Inside each box, there is another smaller box inside… They open the box up and it a pair of bracelets…

Darryl: “Wow…”
Kenny: “I’m speechless…”
Darryl: “He must have spent a fortune on all the gifts… Think I should give him a call to thank him personally…”
Kenny: “Don’t think you need to…”
Darryl: “Huh?”
Kenny: “Read this line…”

“Kenny, please ensure Darryl enjoy the gifts and stop him from calling me to thank me… This is your job because I know he will do that… Thanks… Robin”

Darryl: “WTF!!! How does he know I going to do that?”
Kenny: “Because he is your best friend… Hahaha”
Darryl: “Fine… I will not call him then… Prove him wrong… But he really spends a lot on the gift… He should use the money to treat himself and not spend on us…”
Kenny: “I am sure he knows what he is doing…”
Darryl: “What are we going to do with so many air tickets?”
Kenny: “Erm… Go for our honeymoon again…”
Darryl: “Well then you better check the validity of the air tickets so that we can make the arrangement…”
Kenny: “This is so exciting… We are going to France… Wooo Hooo!!!!”
Darryl: “Yes, we are going to France…”
Kenny: “So how many days leave you still have?”
Darryl: “I think I still about 12days or so”
Kenny: “I don’t have that much… How to go 2 places like that?”
Darryl: “Mrs Tay, let us call the airline and check how we can use the ticket and make the arrangement… Wouldn’t it be better?”
Kenny: “OK… I call now…”

Kenny got up immediately and makes the phone call… Darryl is totally clueless about the conversation he had but judging from his tone… It must be good news… He hang up the phone and skipped back to Darryl… Yes… He skipped….

Kenny: “Ok… here is the plan… We go to France next month and then next year, we go Australia…”
Darryl: “Wah… Plan already made?”
Kenny: “No… Nothing confirm… I just telling you what is the recommendation from the airlines…”
Darryl: “So what they say?”
Kenny: “What I just tell you lor... Go to France to experience winter and then Australia for the spring…”
Darryl: “Any restriction on where to go in Australia?”
Kenny: “Nope… Apparently it an open ticket for both… Depend on where to go and will then charge accordingly by the airlines…”
Darryl: “OK… So what’s now?”
Kenny: “So now it’s time to google… Hahaha”
Darryl: “OK… I do France and you do Australia…”
Kenny: “Yes, Dear… Oh I forget to tell you, I make a call to Robin as well…”
Darryl: “Huh? Did you?”
Kenny: “Yup… Hehehe… Did u hear me keep thanking someone?”
Darryl: “Yes… You mean that is Robin? Why don’t ask me on the phone?”
Kenny: “Well, he asked me to control you ma but he never say I cannot call him to thank him what…”
Darryl: “True…”
Kenny: “I feel better too to thank him for the present… I told him that we will bring souvenir for him when we visit him…”
Darryl: “Nice work, Mrs Tay…”
Kenny: “Of course, if not, how you fall in love with me?”
Darryl: “By you forcing me… Hahahaha”
Kenny: “Hey….” Kenny started to tickle Darryl till Darryl beg for forgiveness….

Love Is... (Part 78 - Robin's Departure)

After the conversation with Robin, Darryl has not really been himself and Kenny feel the pain Darryl is going through and how he is blaming himself for causing Robin to be unhappy… Darryl has promise Tommy to take good care of Robin and he feel that he has failed... He always put up a strong face in front of everyone including Kenny but Kenny knows what is going through Darryl’s mind…

Kenny has tried everything he can do to console Darryl but then again knowing how Darryl is… He knows it kind of pointless to say anything at this moment… So he just stays by his side to give him the support that he need… And that is the least he can do now…

Sometime Kenny does wonder why Darryl always blames himself that is apparently not his fault… He does know that Darryl is a perfectionist and also know that Darryl like to pre planned his day or even life but yet when things don’t go right, he will start blaming himself for making the wrong move… Though he trying to understand his thought but sometime it leaves him even more puzzled…

Darryl tried to spend as much time as he can to be Robin maybe in hope to change his mind of leaving Singapore or maybe he is just trying to make up his “mistakes”. Soon it was the day that Robin travelled back to Bangkok…

25 November 2003

Darryl was up all night wondering whether this will be the last time he will ever see Robin again… He never been so afraid of not seeing him again but yet the feeling has been creeping into him like a dark force trying to take over the light… It is like something bad going to happen once Robin returns to Thailand.

Kenny: “Dear, you are not sleeping? You need to get some sleep else how are you going to send Robin to airport…”
Darryl: “I’m ok…”
Kenny: “No, you are not…” Kenny sat up
Darryl: “I’m ok… Don’t worry…”
Kenny: ‘Dear, I know you since Robin say he wanted to go back, you have been blaming yourself for asking him to come back here...”
Darryl: “No I didn’t…”
Kenny: “I am your lover and I know you… From your action and how you had been behaving… I know what you have just said does not justify at all… You know sometime it not your fault… You mean well and hoping that he will have us to move on… Nothing is wrong about that…”
Darryl: “But he is unhappy here…”
Kenny: “Precisely, he is unhappy without Tommy… He misses his home; he misses Tommy and that why he wants to go back… It has nothing to do with you… You just have to relax…”
Darryl: “I am trying to but I am scare…”
Kenny: “Scare of what?”
Darryl: “Scare that I will not see him again…”
Kenny: “Dear, you are thinking too much… You need to take thing slowly… We can always go and visit him when we are free… And we can even connect over msn… You will see him again… I guarantee…”
Darryl: “You sure?”
Kenny: “Yes! I promise… You just need to stop thinking about all the negative things and everything will be fine…”
Darryl: “But I feel that something bad will happen…”
Kenny: “Nothing will happen… Just relax and take it easy… Now lie down and get some rest…” Darryl nodded but though he closes his eyes, he was wide awake till the alarm clock goes off…

Darryl got up to shower and get himself ready… He made some simple breakfast for Kenny before waking him up to get to work… After breakfast, Darryl drove Kenny to work before heading to Robin’s place to pick him up for airport…

Upon reaching airport, Robin proceeds with his check in procedure and then they head over to Coffee Bean for a coffee before boarding…

Darryl: “Promise me, you will take care of yourself while you are back in Bangkok…”
Robin: “I will… Don’t worry… Sorry that I have to go back…”
Darryl: “I understand and don’t say sorry…”
Robin: “I will come back for visit if I feel bored over there and likewise for you, do come and visit me…”
Darryl: “I will…”
Robin: “You know something…”
Darryl: “What?”
Robin: “I saw a lot of Tommy and myself whenever I meet up with you and Kenny… It’s something you should treasure… When I first saw Tommy, he gave me the feeling that he is the one for me and although it been only a short live 7 years… I did question myself why him in the very beginning though… It was funny at times thinking back but time just flies by like that… Within a blink of the eyes, it been 7 years already… Though there is up and down in the process, it the best time of my life…”
Darryl: “I know… Frankly, you and Tommy have been my role model since you get together…”
Robin: “Really? That’s something I never know…”
Darryl: “Well, I’m more of a subtle fan type… Don’t like to go around chasing for my idol…”
Robin: “Hahaha… That’s true…”
Darryl: “I too have thought about Kenny being a partner but as time goes by, I realize that there is still so much thing about him that I don’t know about… But I am slowly evolving… I guess”
Robin: “Evolving?”
Darryl: “Yup… To be better for him and to be more supportive…”
Robin: “Hahaha… What a word to use… I thought you going to say evolve into a monster…”
Darryl: “I’m gonna miss you so much… It’s been so nice able to sit down with you for coffee and just chat over everything…”
Robin: “I’m gonna miss you too…”
Darryl: “Guess you better get going soon…”
Robin: “Oh… I almost forgot… Here… For Kenny and you” Robin hand over 2 gifts to Darryl…
Darryl: “For?”
Robin: “For making me feel home when I was here… And for giving me hope and supporting me through the toughest time of my life since he left…”
Darryl: “Thanks…”
Robin: “Open it up together with Kenny and hopefully both of you like it…”
Darryl: “I’m sure we will…”

Darryl walked Robin to the departure hall and bid goodbye to him… Robin walks through the custom… Turn around and wave goodbye to Darryl… Looking at Robin walking further and further till he disappears… Tears fell from Darryl eyes…

Darryl looked at the gifts from Robin and walked toward the carpark… He called Kenny along the way to inform him about Robin’s gift and the instruction of opening up the gift only in his presence… Kenny inform Darryl that he is applying half day leave today to accompany him as well he got something from Robin too to pass to him in the presence of Darryl…

Darryl: “Huh? He left something with you too?”
Kenny: “Yup…”
Darryl: “When did you see him?”
Kenny: “Erm… The day that you ask me to talk to him over lunch… Remember?”
Darryl: “And you keep it from me for so long…”
Kenny: “Well… I cannot possibly break the trust that he ask from me right? You will do the same if you were me…”
Darryl: “True… So where are you heading to now?”
Kenny: “To Mum’s place to get the stuff first then meet up with you…”
Darryl: “Wah… you even go all the way to keep it from me…”
Kenny: “Well, I am a good keeper I guess… Hahaha”
Darryl: “Not funny, Mrs Tay… So what time should I pick you up then?”
Kenny: “No need la… Just let me know where you will be and I will go meet you there…”
Darryl: “Erm… I don’t know myself… Maybe I go supermarket to get some groceries I guess and maybe get some food for tonight…”
Kenny: “You are cooking?”
Darryl: “Thinking of… Sick of eating out every night”
Kenny: “Ok… Then I meet you at home then…”
Darryl: “OK… I see u later… Bye”
Kenny: “Bye”

Love Is... (Part 77 - Am I Wrong)

It’s been more than 6 months since Robin returned to Singapore… He is kind of settling down nicely back in Singapore.

Nothing major happens this few months except that friendship with Kelvin blossom and Kelvin got attached… There also been some minor fight between Darryl and Kenny but everything got resolved because they have Robin as their love doctor… As Robin always mentioned to them…

“It always tough to stay together but it a choice to make things works…”

Keeping this in mind though they may have difference in living habit, they manage to work things out and compromised. So staying together is not that bad…

But something does worry Darryl a bit… He noticed that Robin has been losing quite a fair bit of weight since he is back to Singapore and been getting sick relatively frequent. It’s something that Darryl doesn’t really understand… Robin has been going to the doctor frequently to get himself check and have been taking medication but instead of getting better, he is getting weaker by the days… So one day during dinner at home, Darryl brought this up to Kenny

Darryl: “Mrs Tay, Can I ask you something?”
Kenny: “Sure, love… What is it?”
Darryl: “Have you notice something different about Robin lately?”
Kenny: “Are you talking about the weight loss?”
Darryl: “You mean you noticed it as well?”
Kenny: “Yes, I was also going to talk to you about this as you have been visiting the doctor with him on and off so did the doctor said anything?”
Darryl: “Actually frankly speaking, though I was there with him, I didn’t really go in with him as he always asks me to wait for him… So I don’t really know what the doctor said to him… But he did say that he is doing well and doctor just gives him prescription to continue with it…”
Kenny: “Hmmm… Maybe we need to talk to him…”
Darryl: “I was actually thinking you need to talk to him…”
Kenny: “Me? Why me only?”
Darryl: “Erm… Because you are more control and sensible in this area… You know how I will react and I don’t want to add on addition stress to him… Plus with me around, he may not talk much…”
Kenny: “True also… But what do you want me to talk to him about?”
Darryl: “I don’t know either maybe tried to check with him his condition if possible… I am sure you will know what to say when you meet him because you are worried about him as much as I do…”
Kenny: “Yes I am but why always me?”
Darryl: “Because I love you and you are the best…”
Kenny: “Yes I know… But that doesn’t mean I have to do this ma… It’s so difficult to do such thing…”
Darryl: “Please, Mrs Tay… Please… I will do anything for you too…”
Kenny: “Anything….?”
Darryl: “Yes… anything…”
Kenny: “Then you go talk to him…”
Darryl: “Except for this… You know I will go crazy…”
Kenny: “OK OK… I go call him now and talk to him…”
Darryl: “No… Do it face to face…”
Kenny: “So many request one… Anymore?”
Darryl: “Nothing le… Just fix lunch appointment with him and talk to him…”
Kenny: “OK OK… You go call him”
Darryl: “Why me?”
Kenny: “Don’t you think it will be weird that I am calling to have lunch?”
Darryl: “But in that case, he will expect me to be around…”
Kenny: “Haiz, I just tell him u busy with work la… so cannot join us… You mean I still need to teach you such simple stuff…”
Darryl: “Oh ya… Darryl let out a silly laugh…

It was Wednesday and today Kenny will be meeting Robin for lunch… Darryl was really very tempted to join them but knowing himself on how he will react, he finally decided against it to tag along… So he waited patiently in the office for Kenny’s update… Ok maybe not really patiently as he is totally impatient and keep looking at his phone worrying that he got a missed call from Kenny…

Finally, the phone rings… He looks at the phone and it is Robin…

Darryl: “Hello, Robin…”
Robin: “Hey… You must be wondering why I am calling you.”
Darryl: “Yes… Aren’t you having lunch with Kenny? Sorry I can’t make it…”
Robin: “Don’t worry about it… I was just talking to Kenny and he said that you guys are really worried about me due to my weight loss lately… So I guess it easier if you be hearing from me instead… Is this a good time to talk?”
Darryl: “Yes of course… In fact I was just going to call Kenny…”
Robin: “OK, so you want to be join us?”
Darryl: “Erm… No la… Will be quite rushing for me… So what’s up?” Darryl trying to control himself... Not sure why but he feel like something bad going to come out from Robin…
Robin: “Actually what I am going to tell you may not be something that you really wanted to hear… But I guess since you guys have been so concern over my condition… I think it just right for me to tell you about it…”
Darryl: “OK…”
Robin: “I have decided to head back to Thailand next month and be with Tommy… I can’t stay here… I’ve been telling myself that I want to stay here but for the past 6 months, I am struggling…And it been hard… Yes I know I need to wake up and face the reality that he is gone but I miss him so much… I’m not sure whether you know what I am talking about but I don’t think I can stay here anymore… Or maybe I should say I don’t want to stay here anymore… I miss him and I miss the place where I called home with him… I don’t think I will be happy here… I really don’t think I am…”
Darryl: “You really think so...”
Robin: “Don’t get this the wrong way… It’s not about you or Kenny or anyone here… It’s me… I just don’t want to stay here… I want to be with him… from where he is… from where I call home…”
Darryl: “Ever thought of bringing him here and restart a new home…”
Robin: “It’s not the same… Those memories I have with him when he a still around is something that I will never ever be able to recreate anymore… I really don’t think I can do this here anymore… It is easier for me there…”
Darryl: “But you are all alone there without any friends…”
Robin: “I have him… And at this point, I think this is what I really want… To be with him or closer to him…”
Darryl: “I….”
Robin: “Don’t try to persuade me anymore… I have made up my mind…”
Darryl: “Not going to…”
Robin: “Really?”
Darryl: “Yup… As much as I will worried for you and I don’t think I should force you to be here… Though I really hope you can reconsider or come back soon when you feeling better…”
Robin: “I will… I promise…”
Darryl: “So when are you leaving…”
Robin: “November 25…”
Darryl: “OK… I will take leave to send you…”
Robin: “OK… Thanks so much…”
Darryl: “We will get together this weekend…”
Robin: “Sure…”
Darryl: “I will call you again to arrange…”
Robin: “OK…”
Darryl: “I got to run for a meeting now… I talk to you later…”

Darryl hanged up and tears flow down his cheeks... He wonders did he make a mistake by asking Robin to come back and suffer for 6 months… Did he cause Robin into this state? Is he the cause of everything? He always thought that Robin is happy here but today the truth is told… He is not… But is this the reason why he is losing so much weight…. His phone ring again…. It’s Kenny…

Kenny: “Hello…” and Darryl just broke down and cry…

Love Is... (Part 76 - Robin Is Here)

Sunday – 1 more day to Robin’s arrival

Darryl was really high spirit today. He was going in and out of the house to help Robin stock up his toiletries and household supplies as well new utensils… He took the keys from the landlord and proceeded to Robin’s new apartment with all the stuff to do some clean up for him… Floors were mopped, toilets were washed and sterile, new bed sheets were put up… Darryl was so busy but yet happy… He totally forgotten about the time until Kenny came over to pick him up for dinner….

Kenny: “So jealous!” Kenny said while driving
Darryl: “Jealous about what?”
Kenny: “Robin lor… I never see you so hardworking while I am around…”
Darryl: “Well, you are different…”
Kenny: “What’s so different?”
Darryl: “Because I know you can take care of yourself and at the same time, take care of me…”
Kenny: “Ya ya… Wait till one day I stop doing so then you will regret…”
Darryl: “I know you wouldn’t do that because you love me…”
Kenny: “Thick skinned…”
Darryl: “But you like… Hahaha… So what’s for dinner?”
Kenny: “Let’s go to Cozy Bay at Kallang…”
Darryl: “OK… You decide… Oh so have you bring your stuff over already today…”
Kenny: “Yup… Nothing much to bring anyway because most of the stuff are already there with you already…”
Darryl: “So I guess we are now officially cohabitating…”
Kenny: “Yup we are but was disappointed because I thought someone will be home to welcome me into his life…”
Darryl: “Erm, you are already in my life for the past 20 years…”
Kenny: “But today is different ma… We are now officially staying together so I thought you will be there…”
Darryl: “I will make it up to you…”
Kenny: “How?”
Darryl: “It will remain as a secret till the right time… Am hungry now… Need to eat first… Hahaha…”

After the dinner at Cozy Bay, they went straight home. But at the void deck, Darryl asked Kenny to park the car as he need to go toilet urgently. So Kenny took over the wheel as Darryl rushed home… So Kenny parked the car and then head up…

“So unromantic one… But what to do since we get together, he never did anything to surprise me at all… Just accept it… He is who he is…” Kenny thought to himself…

When he head up to Darryl house, the house was left ajar... Kenny pushed the door opened and it was pitch dark…

“Dear… You there?” Kenny called out but no response

“Dear…” He called out and still no response… He reached out to switch on the light but the main power supply seems to be cut off… Now he started to worry… He just keeps on calling out to Darryl… But there is just no response… He is scared and on the verge of crying when he hear a voice behind him and singing… He knows immediately that is Darryl… He turns around but it was too dark to see Darryl… But the voice and the singing smooth him down a bit… Then the light came on… Darryl was holding a box in one hand and a bouquet of flower in another…

“Welcome home… Mrs Tay” Darryl said. Kenny looked at Darryl and broke into tears. Darryl walked up to him and passed him the flower and the box. He signaled Kenny to open the box… Kenny put down the flower and opened the box… Inside the box is a piece of paper... Kenny took it out and turned it over… On the paper, it wrote

“Certificate of Commitment

On this day, I, Darryl Tay, take you, Kenny Chew, to be my Lifetime Partner, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honour and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

On this day, I, Kenny Chew, take you, Darryl Tay, to be my Lifetime Partner, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. Darryl: “I know this is something out of the blues and also something not very nicely done up but I was wondering whether I will have the honour to have you sign on this Certificate of Commitment to symbolise our union to start a home together as of today…”
Kenny: “Yes…” Kenny picked up the pen in the box and sign on the certificate. Darryl did likewise…
Darryl: “So how you feeling now?”
Kenny: “Touch… And how did you do it?”
Darryl: “Did you actually look at the date? It was dated back to when we first get attached… I have this prepare long ago just not sure when to give it to you… And for the flower, I am just happy that you didn’t go round searching my things when I am not home else you will sure notice it…”
Kenny: “I never thought of that maybe because I know what you put most of your things or should I say I am the one putting it…”
Darryl: “Hahaha… Good point…”
Kenny: “So tomorrow you will be picking Robin up?”
Darryl: “Yup… Will pick him up from Airport then pick you to have dinner together, ok?”
Kenny: “Yup...”

The next day, Darryl was up early to actually prepare breakfast for Kenny and send him to work… After dropping Kenny at work, Darryl went over to Robin house to do some final touch up of the place before heading home for shower after lunch and get ready to go pick up Robin…

When he reached the airport, he realise that Robin flight was delayed so he called Kenny to inform him about it…

Darryl: “Dear, Robin flight is being delayed so I don’t think I can make it on time to pick you up… You wanna go to the venue to wait for us?”
Kenny: “It ok… Anyway, I am finish soon so maybe I will head over to the airport to join you first…”
Darryl: “Why not I go and pick you up first and head back here together?”
Kenny: “Don’t be silly… You not sure how long the delay is plus it going to be a mad jam if you travel to and fro… You just stay there and I will head over to meet up with you, ok? At least Robin will see if his flight then to make him wait for both of us…”
Darryl: “OK then… You be careful ok…”
Kenny: “I will… Something is not right here since last night…”
Darryl: “What?”
Kenny: “You seem to care a lot more for me now…”
Darryl: “Not fair… I always care for you…”
Kenny: “I know… OK… I got pack up and then head over to you… Give me a ring if Robin touches down”
Darryl: “Love you, Mrs Tay”
Kenny: “Love you too… Mrs Chew… See you in a while…”

More than 45 minutes have gone but still Robin’s flight has not touch down yet… Kenny reached the airport and look for Darryl… They sat at Starbuck and waited for the information on the flight… Finally after 1hour 40min, Robin’s flight touched down Singapore… They headed toward the Arrival Hall and within 15 min, they saw Robin....
Smiles were exchanged…

“Welcome back to Singapore…” Darryl and Kenny said in unison….

Love Is... (Part 75 - Jay's Wedding)

After Jay’s confession about his relationship with Kelvin, Kenny and Darryl were kind of worried that he will back out of the wedding… But he did get married 3 weeks later in a touching ceremony with Emily...

The ceremony was simple yet romantic…Sitting in the church hearing them exchanging the vow and the happiness on their face. Kenny and Darryl was relief that Kelvin pull the plug to end the relationship… Maybe it the really the best for everyone… They were at the reception area when they saw Kelvin approaching them…

Kelvin: “Hi…”
Darryl: “Hey, just arrived?”
Kelvin: “Nope… Was sitting at the back during the whole ceremony…”
Kenny: “Thought you not coming…”
Kelvin: “Yup but he called me yesterday and invited me to be around so I guess as a friend; I should attend as well…”
Darryl: “Doing ok?”
Kelvin: “You know what… I never feel better… Firstly, I do have hesitation of not coming but then I am glad that I came…”
Darryl: “Good for you…”
Kelvin: “Well like I said, it the best for everyone…else all of us will be suffering now… And I am back into the market for dating… So it a good thing for me right…. Hahaha”
Kenny: “Hahaha… Yup, back in the game for you… So anybody you keen here… Maybe can pull some string for you if I happen to know them…”
Kelvin: “Thanks but no thanks… I think I rather stay this way for a while and enjoy having fun dating… Hahaha... Relationship is too much for me at this moment…”
Darryl: “Just have fun dating then...” Laughter surrounded them
Kelvin: “I’ll catch up with you guys during the lunch… I need to send my well wishing to the bride and groom…” Kelvin then walked towards the newly wed…
Kenny: “Wow, he is really doing ok… I am impressed… It’s only 3 weeks and he already gotten over it… Amazing…”
Darryl: “Like he says it more of a relief for him…”
Kenny: “Maybe he doesn’t really love Jay…”
Darryl: “Hey let’s not do any assumption… It’s over for both of them… Look, they seem to be doing OK and happy for each other…”
Kenny: “True…”

Kelvin sat down with them during lunch and they chatted even more… A friendship seems to develop over the wedding... They exchanged number before going their separate way…

Once back home, Darryl give a call to Robin to arrange his flight back and accommodation. Initially, Darryl offered Robin to stay with them so they can at least accompany him but Robin rejected them because he doesn’t want to trouble them and inform that he has find a temporary place to stay in… So Darryl is now helping Robin to sort out the minor issue with the landlord as well to confirm the date Robin will be moving in… The call was kind of brief as Robin said that he will be heading for his treatment. Darryl was relieved that he is taking care of himself… Darryl bid goodbye to Robin and hang up.

Kenny: “So how everything?”
Darryl: “OK I guess… Just need to tell the landlord on when he is moving in that all and help him the pay the deposit...”
Kenny: “OK… So when he is coming in?”
Darryl: “Next Monday but still unsure on the flight timing yet…”
Kenny: “So I guess you are going to apply leave…”
Darryl: “Yup… Someone have to help him to move in right… Hahaha…”
Kenny: “Yes… Mrs Chew… Talking about that… Is your renovation of the house done up already?”
Darryl: “Huh? Renovation? What renovation?!”
Kenny: “Well, Mrs Chew… In case you forget, you told my parents that you are doing some renovation to the house and thus I can only shift in one month later…”
Darryl: “Oh… That… Apparently as you can see, I have no time for the renovation yet so I guess you have to wait a bit longer la…”
Kenny: “You are kidding right?”
Darryl: “Do I look like I am kidding? “Darryl pulls a serious face…
Kenny: “Oh… you are not kidding… So I will not be moving in after all…”
Darryl: “Yup… Didn’t you ever realize I never waned you to stay with me… It just a nuisance”
Kenny: “OK…”
Darryl: “I don’t want to lose my freedom over a simple tree like you… I have the whole forest out there…”
Kenny: “OK”
Darryl: “So maybe we should not stay together… Isn’t it better for both of us?”
Kenny: “Anything… I better get going already…”

Kenny stood up and walk out of the bedroom… Darryl got hold of him and turns him around…

Darryl: “Why the face?”
Kenny: “For obvious reason…”
Darryl: “Look at me…” Darryl held Kenny head and lifts it up slightly… “You should know I am just teasing you… I always wanted this to happen and of course I wanted you to stay with me as my wife…”
Kenny: “Wife your head la... And of course I know you are teasing me… Can’t you tell I am teasing you too… OMG!!! What did I do to deserve such stupid husband?”
Darryl: “Ah ha!!!.... See even you admit I am your husband… Hahaha”
Kenny: “Erm…. I mean… I mean… You always bully me”
Darryl: “Wah… Since when I bully you? I only love you with all my heart and soul…”
Kenny: “Mushy…”
Darryl: “But you like it right, Mrs Tay…” Kenny nodded and Darryl laughed…
Kenny: “We better get ready soon for the wedding dinner… We need to be there early to help him out…”
Darryl: “OK… What time we suppose to be there?”
Kenny: “He mentioned about by 6pm for the reception…”
Darryl: “So tedious to have a wedding dinner… So many things to do… From ceremony to lunch reception to dinner reception to Dinner… Just thinking of it already headache… Why can’t they just ROM and then that’s it?” Darryl got undressed and pop into the shower…
Kenny: “Well, I am not sure too but I do know that if I ever have the chance to get married, I will want to broadcast to the whole world too…”
Darryl: “I do agree but we can do it in a more simple way I guess…”
Kenny: “No doubt about it…”
Darryl: “By the way, you are already married… And you are moving in with me before the next weekend comes…”
Kenny: “Really?!”
Darryl: “Yup… Anytime when you are ready, Mrs Tay...”
Kenny: “I am always ready…”
Darryl: “Hahaha… Want to join me in the shower…”
Kenny: “Coming…”

After the shower, they got dressed in matching colour and style which is a White Suit, Baby Blue Shirt and Silver ties… Before they head out, Darryl said

“Are we a little overdress? We look like the groom… Hahaha” Kenny shook his head and they just head out together… When they arrived venue, Kelvin was already there with a handsome young man in tow…

“Look like someone bring along a date…” Kenny said…

They greeted each other and help out with the guest list and reception as well… Darryl and Kelvin were tasked by Jay to be the “receptionist” of the night while Kenny was tasked to be giving a speech for the newly wed later… And somehow or another, Kenny again sabotages Darryl by getting him to sing for the newly wed…

Darryl: “You just can’t help yourself right… Sure must make me sing”
Kenny: “Well, you can sing so why not? I am just being a proud partner…”
Darryl: “Ya… Always like that…”
Kenny: “Here… Choose the song from this list… I have run through the list for you already… Or should I say, these are the songs that I wanted to hear you sing…”
Darryl: “So why not you just choose it for me then since you already done so much…:
Kenny: “Actually I did… Just trying not to be a pushover… Hahaha… There you go… The song for me…”
Darryl: “You win already lor… Mrs Tay…”
Kenny: “You are welcome, Mr Chew… Go prepare and don’t you embarrass me… Hahaha”
Darryl: “What a great idea…”
Kenny: “Kelvin, I shall task you to ensure that he learn the song…”
Kelvin: “Yes, Mrs Tay… I will do all I can… Hahahah… You two are hilarious!!!!... Hahahaha” Darryl and Kenny laughed out loud…

Finally after a long reception, the dinner commence at 845pm… At 930pm, Kenny was invited to give the short speech on the couple or to be more precise, about Jay… The content was hilarious and funny… Darryl was surprised that Kenny can actually be a stand up comedian. After the speech, Kenny invited Darryl up on stage to give a speech before he sing…

“Thank you everyone, well, I must say that I am pretty honour to be standing on stage to share my thought about the couple with all of you… Though I have not known both of them for long but from what I saw today throughout the ceremony, Jay and Emily are really made for each other… You know how you find love in someone and you really hope that you can spend every single moment with him/her till death do you apart… I saw it in them… We made mistake along the way but we grow from mistake to make the relationship stronger and long-lasting… I am sure that in future no matter how hard the hardship is, how sad the situation is or how bad the mistake is, both of them will work out fine and this marriage is here to last and it going to last forever… Ladies and Gentlemen, pls put your hand together and welcome Mr and Mrs Jay Chong to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife….”

Music sounded and Darryl sings…

“Wise men say only fool rush in

After he finish, he look at Kenny and saw him tearing up…. Maybe this song really touches him…. Without noticing, he still on mic, he blurt up… “I love you, Kenny…”

Beautifully Imperfect

This is an advertisement in recent years that really touches my heart and it actually brought tears when i first saw it...

In our own world, we always have this criteria/benchmark set for ourselves when we looking for relationship... It always something like fillial, humourous, outgoing etc etc etc... We had our benchmark set so high that we sometime get lost in them too...We are always seeking the perfect person to love and hopefully this person will love us back...

People often ask me what do i look for in my future partner... I told them that i do not have criteria at all but who am i kidding... I do make friends with everybody but when it come to partner, i still have my own set of basic criteria... It just that overall, i like to have someone more emotionally compatible with me than physical compatible...

Though i have to admit the first impression counts and it the first impression that attract us to another date... But then after the second or third date later, it more about the emotionally connection.... Right?

Everyone of us is unique, no matter how hard we try, we will never be a perfect person for someone else... We have flaws and that is how we are being created but it is because of all these flaws that we have that make us unique... Like in this advertisement mentioned, nothing means more to her than hearing all the snoring again...

Love Is... (Part 74 - Kelvin 2)

They parked the car at Suntec City Carpark and Kenny give a ring to Jay informing that they are going to get some toiletries first before meeting up with them… After the shopping, Kenny and Darryl head to the Japanese Restaurant to meet up with Jay and Kelvin… The waitress directed them to the room…

Kenny: “Sorry to keep you guys waiting”
Jay: “No problem… Anyway, we were just discussing what to eat… Any preference?”
Darryl: “I’m ok with anything… Dear, you go ahead and order… I need to go to the washroom…”
Kelvin: “I go with you…” Kelvin stood up and follows Darryl out…

While they are walking towards the toilet, Kelvin spoke…

Kelvin: “Darryl, I hope what I say to you just now don’t come as a shock to you…”
Darryl: “Don’t worry though I don’t really know why you are doing this but I guess you have your own reason…”
Kelvin: “Frankly I don’t know myself but something just make me stay on…”
Darryl: “I am not sure what is really going on but then again, I think you need to think more for yourself because you should know better where you stand at this moment…”
Kelvin: “I know… But I just can’t help it…”
Darryl: “Well, I can only say think about you first… That is what most important… If you think that this is something you are going to be happy with then embrace it...”
Kelvin: “But how do you think of me?”
Darryl: “I don’t really know you that well so I really cannot comment… Hope you understand... Why worry about how I think about you?”
Kelvin: “I don’t know… Maybe you are the first person that I met that tells me to think for myself…”
Darryl: “Though I am shocked by what you have said but I strongly believe that you know what you are doing…”
Kelvin: “Thanks…”
Darryl: “Don’t mention… OK let me go to the gents first and then need to head back for the dinner… I am kind of hungry… Hahahah”
Kelvin: “Hahaha…”

Kenny and Jay were talking about the wedding when they got back… Dinner procced without any major announcement or awkwardness… It was more of a trash talking session basically until at the end of the dinner..

Kenny: “So Jay, what is the announcement that you say you going to made?”
Jay: “Oh… Hahaha… nothing important… Just wanted you guys to meet someone… And you have already met him… Hahaha”
Kenny: “You mean Kelvin?”
Jay: “Yup… Well you see, I keep mentioning to you about Kelvin but you don’t really have the opportunity to meet him so there… He is my announcement… Hahahah”
Kenny: “OK…” Kenny looking at Darryl puzzled.
Darryl: “What an announcement…”
Jay: “Yup… Hahahah… Kelvin is going to be my best man for the wedding too… Irony right…?”
Kenny: “What so irony about it?”
Jay: “Well because…. Kelvin is more than a close friend to me…”
Kenny: “Well that one I know because you been mentioning a lot about Kelvin and the things you guys do together… So I guess it rightfully that he is your best man for your wedding… What so irony about it?”
Kelvin: “Maybe because I never wanted to be at his wedding…”
Kenny: “Why?”
Kelvin: “Because I never wanted to see him getting married to another person…”
Kenny: “Wait… What do you mean by that?”
Darryl: “Maybe Kelvin is just having this feeling that he is going to lost a friend…”
Kelvin: “No… It because I am going to love the person that I really love so much… and seeing him going into the arms of a woman is killing me…”
Kenny: “What you trying to say?”
Jay: “What he trying to say is? I am going to let him down by marrying Emily…”
Kenny: “Wait I still don’t understand…Do you, Dear?” Darryl nodded…
Jay: “Put it this way, I am two timing Emily with Kelvin…”
Kenny: “What?! You are trying to tell me you are gay!!!!”
Darryl: “Shhhh… Not so loud…”
Kenny: “But how? But you been telling me that Emily is the “One” for you and she is the person you going to marry to… This is getting a little bit too much… You are getting married in less than 3 weeks time and now you realize that you are gay… How is that?”
Jay: “I am confused too…”
Darryl: “Actually Jay, there is nothing to be confused about? Take sometime to think about it and you will know…”
Jay: “I have… But I cannot get the answer…”
Kenny: “Can you answer his confusion?” Kenny looked at Kelvin and he nodded…
Kelvin: “I want him to be happy but then I know I will be sad… I never wanted to be a third party… When I knew him, I never know that he is attached to a girl and already with plans to get married… It came to me as a shock too but I was already in love with him… I don’t know what to do… More than once, I made up my mind to leave him but then I got soft hearted time after time… And I just give in to him again…”
Kenny: “Do you think this is right?” Kenny looking at Jay with disbelief
Jay: “I don’t know…”
Kenny: “Then what you know?”
Jay: “It was meant to be just some fun fling but I really didn’t expect that I am falling in love with him…”
Kenny: “Gosh… How can you say that? What make you even want to have the fling?”
Jay: “You…”
Kenny: “Huh…”
Jay: “After I know about you and Darryl… After I hear about how loving the two of you are… Everything you say about your relationship with Darryl made me wanted to try…”
Kenny: “What are you talking about? Do you still love Emily? Do you still want to marry to Emily?”
Jay: “Yes…”
Kenny: “Then what you mean about me making you to try…”
Jay: “I don’t know… I really don’t know…”
Darryl: “Dear… You need to calm down…” Darryl hold on to Kenny hand trying to calm him down from the agitation...
Kenny: “How to? He is getting married in less than 3 weeks… There is Emily who is now being kept in the dark of the things he had done… And then there is Kelvin who suppose to be just fling and now turn out to be a serious relationship… And I get blamed for causing all these… How to calm down…”
Darryl: “Just relax… Let me talk… OK?”
Kenny: “I don’t how to relax… You go ahead”
Darryl: “Jay, I don’t really know you as well as Kenny but I am saying the same thing I going to say to Kelvin… We cannot tell you what you need to do and what you shouldn’t do… But ask yourself the question on whether you still want to go through the marriage… You will know what to do when you answer the question… I don’t know why you want Kelvin to be at your wedding… And I don’t know the reason on why you asking him to be your best man…”
Jay: “Because I want him to be there to share my happiness with me…”
Darryl: “Have you realize that he is not happy…” Jay looked at Kelvin…
Jay: “Yes…”
Darryl: “You have already know the answer and the future that you really want and who you really want to be with… Inside you, you already know… If that is the case, why still hold on?”
Jay: “But I love him…”
Kelvin: “Do you really love me? If yes, then why still go through the wedding?”
Jay: “Because I love Emily too and I want to share my life with both of you…”
Darryl: “You know it is near impossible… If you really love him then don’t force him to be with you…”
Jay: “Do you feel that I am forcing you?”
Kelvin: “No… But I really don’t think I can continue with you when you are married to Emily… Even though I keep telling myself that I really want to give it a shot… But you never know how much it hurting me everytime I hear you talking about the wedding preparation, the sparkle in your eyes is just too hard to take it… And I know you are really happy and you will stay with Emily… And I truly believe that… Maybe it is really wrong for me to keep contact with you… Maybe we should just end it as a fling… Maybe we shouldn’t have exchange the numbers… Frankly, I am happy being with you for the past months, but I am also too scare to face the future of you being a married man that will have wife and children while I am just a guy standing at a dark corner waiting for you to give me time…”
Jay: “Is this what you really wanted?”
Kelvin: “Maybe not… But it is for the best…”
Jay: “But I really do love you…”
Kelvin: “Me too but I don’t want to be the person who become the problem in your marriage…”
Jay: “Will we still be in contact?”
Kelvin: “Sure but maybe not for now… And I don’t think I can be your best man for your wedding… Sorry…”
Jay: “I know…”
Kelvin: “You have already found your happiness with Emily so enjoy it… You know I have been having all these thought for so long but I don’t have the courage to tell you until Darryl ask me to think for myself and whether this kind of relationship is really what I want… And I realize that as much I love you, I really don’t want to take you away from Emily… Because I know you will be happier with her…”
Jay: “I know…” Kelvin turned to Darryl and Kenny
Kelvin: “Thanks guys…” Both of them nodded in unison…

*After this particular, Kelvin become a close friend to Kenny and Darryl which till today the friendship between them still going strong… In the later part of the story, Kelvin will more or less become a very major part of what is going to happen…

Love Is... (Part 73 - Kelvin 1)

The next few days were really chaotic at work for Darryl… He totally has no much time for himself and not to mention with Kenny… But he was really grateful that Kenny was always there waiting for him to have dinner regardless of what timing he knocked off from work… At time, he does realize that how lucky he was to know Kenny and how fortunate he is to committed to Kenny…

It was 11pm Friday Night… Darryl was driving himself home after work… Totally exhausted and sleepy… So he picks up his hand free and gives Kenny a call to keep him awake…

*Ring Ring... *

Kenny: “Hello, Mr Chew speaking?”
Darryl: “Hello, can I speak to Mrs Tay please?”
Kenny: “Yup… This is Mrs Tay speaking… How can I help you? Hahahaha” Both of them let out a big laugh…
Darryl: “What are you doing?”
Kenny: “Nothing much… Just got home from dinner with Jay... Why?”
Darryl: “Oh ya… I totally forget you having dinner with him… Nothing I was just wanted to ask whether you want goes for supper because I have not eaten…”
Kenny: “OK… What time you picking me up?”
Darryl: “But you just got home…”
Kenny: “I actually packing my stuff also… Am thinking that if you have not call be by 1130… I will go to your office and dragged you home…”
Darryl: “Huh…”
Kenny: “Yes, dragged you workaholic butt home with your wife…”
Darryl: “Wife? Hahaha… Someone admitting to be my wife… Yeah…”
Kenny: “Erm… I mean husband… You know what I mean lar…”
Darryl: “Yes, my lovely wife… But why packing your stuff…”
Kenny: “Oh, Jay invited us to have a tennis game tomorrow… Say he got something to talk to us about regarding his wedding wor…”
Darryl: “But why tomorrow… Didn’t you just meet him for dinner just now”
Kenny: “Ya… But he doesn’t want to say but ask me to invite you along…”
Darryl: “Huh… What time? I was hoping to snuggle in bed the whole day tomorrow to make up my sleep…”
Kenny: “I know about that… That’s why I am packing to head over to you… But since you call so you can pick me up…”
Darryl: “Ok… What about Jay?”
Kenny: “Told him, you likely too tired for the game but will meet him for dinner instead… And he is ok with it… Though tonight I keep gushing about how good you are with tennis and he really look forward to play with you…”
Darryl: “Erm, I am just amateur…”
Kenny: “Well if you can win a game with me… You are consider good already… hehehe”
Darryl: “OK… Anyway, I am downstair already… Come down when you are ready…:”
Kenny: “That’s fast… OK OK… I’ll be down in a while…”
Darryl: “Take your time… I’ll be waiting…”

After hanging up, Darryl closed his eyes and fallen asleep while waiting for Kenny... Kenny woke him up and took the driver seat while Darryl rest for a little while more…

Kenny: “Dear… We are home…”
Darryl: “Huh…”
Kenny: “We are home…”
Darryl: “Thought we going supper?”
Kenny: “I bought the food le… I see you so tired so decided to just pack it back…”
Darryl: “Oh… Sorry…”
Kenny: “Come... You are really tired… No work for you this weekend…”
Darryl: “OK…”

Once home, Darryl head straight to shower to freshen up… Kenny came into the bathroom halfway and gives Darryl a nice massage…

They were sitting at the dining table having their supper when Kenny mentioned that he give Robin a call today to check out on him… Kenny updated that Robin will be in town next month and said that he is likely to come back to Singapore for a longer period this time round… Darryl was happy with the news that Robin is coming back…

It was 12noon when both of them woke up… They are cuddling in the bed when Kenny’s phone ring… Kenny answered and it was Jay checking in whether they are keen for the tennis game…. Darryl nodded and Kenny went ahead to fix the time with Jay at 230pm…
They got up from bed and get ready to head out for the game… Darryl asked Kenny to drive instead as he is being a little bit lazy to drive…

Soon they arrived at Orchid Country Club where Jay is waiting for them with another handsome young man…

“Look like we are going to play double today…” Kenny said to Darryl.

Jay: “Hey, you guys are punctual…”
Kenny: “What to do… Darryl is very time conscious…”
Jay: “Let me introduce… This is Kelvin… and Kelvin; this is Kenny and Darryl…” They exchanged hand shake and greeting with one another…
Jay: “So are you guys ready for the game…”
Darryl: “I assume we are playing double?”
Jay: “Well, I would like to have a game with you later since Kenny said that you are really good…”
Darryl: “He is just flattering me…I am just an amateur”
Jay: “In any way, let just have fun… Shall we?”
Kenny: “Bring it on…”

They started the game and it lasted for near 1h45min before Darryl and Kenny won… Darryl took a break with Kelvin joining him while Kenny and Jay carry on with their game… Kelvin and Darryl have some brief conversation but the content of it actually caught Darryl off guard…

“How is this possible?” Darryl thought to himself… Just then both players called out to them asking them for another round before ending the day…By the time, they left the club, it was already near 6pm and they decided to head for dinner in town…

During the ride, Darryl was still thinking of the conversation he had with Kelvin... It is just so weird… He just doesn’t understand… But on the other hand, he knows what Kelvin is going through… but then again why he allows himself to go through this… Shouldn’t he do something for himself… He was in deep thought when Kenny called out to him…

Kenny: “Dear, you ok?”
Darryl: “Ya… Just tired from the game… and my hand a bit sore…”
Kenny: “I give you a massage later when home, ok?”
Darryl: “OK”
Kenny: “So you enjoy yourself today?”
Darryl: “Yup but I think tomorrow I really just wanted to stay in to rest… OK?”
Kenny: “Whatever you want, my love… We finish the dinner then head home… Unless you got something you wanted to do…”
Darryl: “Nothing much I guess… Maybe need to go stock up the toiletries at home…”
Kenny: “OK…”
Darryl: “Dear, can I ask you something?”
Kenny: “Sure…”
Darryl: “Do you know Kelvin?”
Kenny: “Well, Jay did mention about him before but today was the first time I met him in person…Y?”
Darryl: “Nothing… Just thought you seen him before…”
Kenny: “He is always a mystery but Jay did mention him often… Like things they do together and stuff… But he never invited him to any game before until today…”
Darryl: “OK…Anyway, where we meeting them again?”
Kenny: “Suntec City…”
Darryl: “Oh ya… Hahaha… You guys mentioned so many places until I lost track…”
Kenny: “I guess so… hahaha…”
Darryl: “Oh did Jay mention anything to you?”
Kenny: “As in?”
Darryl: “You say he got some stuff to tell us right?”
Kenny: “Oh he said he will talk about it during dinner…”
Darryl: “OK”

“This dinner is going to be really interesting if Jay is going to announce what Kelvin had told him…” Darryl thought

Love Is... (Part 72 - Coming Out? 3)

Both Darryl and Kenny were shocked on how to react to the sentence… They are holding their breath hoping that nothing more will come out but Ma just continue…

Ma: “You have known each other for so long even though when you are younger, Ken did bring some female friend home… But we can tell that those are just schoolmates or normal friends… However when you are with Ken, his eyes just sparkled like a diamond and that kind of feeling is like seeing someone you love…”
Darryl: “I know…”
Ma: “Then as the years go by, the 2 of you just get more and more intimate and I never see Ken bringing back any girls anymore… And at times, when Ken showed us the photos you guys taken, I just feel that there is something more… It kind of worried me quite a bit…”
Kenny: “Do we really have to do this now? It was so nice to have dinner with you guys and yet you turn the happy dinner into something so… so… Haiz”
Pa: “We know that there is something else about your relationship with each other… More than just close friends, brothers or whatever you guys term it in front of others... Something more intimate… But we just couldn’t get the word out of it…”
Kenny: “Fine, if you want to know the truth… Me and Darryl are… We are…”
Ma: “You are…?”
Darryl: “You are right… We are more than brothers or friends…”
Pa: “WHAT!!! You mean… You mean…”
Darryl: “Let me finish… Kenny is everything in my life, he more than a friend, more than a brother… When I was down, he is there… When I was happy, he is there… When I attempted suicide, he was there… Without him, I won’t be sitting here anymore…”
Ma: “You attempted suicide?!”
Kenny: “Twice… to be exact”
Darryl: “Yup… Twice… When grandmother passed away, my life turned upside down… She is everything to me…Everything… I lost my everything and kind of lost and depressed, I lost my will to live… But Kenny was there to support me and give me the support that I needed… He helps me pull through that period by being there for me… During this recent trip to visit my friend, he let me see how much he is willing to give to others to help them… Something that I never realize before… And I admire him for everything he has done…”
Ma: “Ken is a good boy…”
Darryl: “Yup, a very good boy… And I have so much to learn from him…I may have already been dead if not for him…”
Kenny: “You know I will never let you do that… I made a promise and I will not break it… You are there for me, I am sure when I needed you…” Darryl nodded
Pa: “So you guys are not together…?”
Kenny: “We are!!! And always will be… I will be there for him, and he will be there for me… Nothing going to change this… Hopefully…”
Ma: “I am so glad that both of you supported each other and I am so proud of you, Ken…”
Pa: “But are you guys…”
Ma: “Pa, I don’t think they are… I think Darryl is very grateful of our son that he appreciates him more... That’s all… There is just something more than a normal relationship between them but I am sure they are not together as a couple…”
Pa: “OK… If that what it is, I’m relieved… OK, let order some desserts… hahahah”

So the bomb is currently being defused for the moment and dinner was resumed… By the time, Darryl finally reached home… It was already past midnight… He jumped into the shower and sat in the bathtub…

“What a night…” He thought to himself and then his mobile phone ring… He already expecting Kenny will call him thus he reached out to his mobile next to him…

Darryl: “Good Morning, Mrs Tay…”
Kenny: “Good Morning, Mrs Chew… What you doing now?”
Darryl: “Sitting in the bathtub and talking to you…”
Kenny: “Oooo… I so wanted to be there doing the same with you…”
Darryl: “I know… What are you doing now?”
Kenny: “Have finished my shower and now lying on my bed missing you…”
Darryl: “Orh…”
Kenny: “Orh?”
Darryl: “What?!” Darryl let a smile in his tone
Kenny: “I am sure you missing me too…”
Darryl: “Hmmm…”
Kenny: “Dear, sorry for tonight…”
Darryl: “It’s Ok… Nothing major… Aren’t you glad that we have decided not to come out to them?”
Kenny: “I was very tempted too… Luckily you stop me but now I think about it… I think we did come out to them indirectly though…”
Darryl: “Did we? I thought we…”
Kenny: “Yes we did...”
Darryl: “Maybe but to them, they think that we are just supporting each other…”
Kenny: “Yup… Thanks dear… Really don’t know what to do without you around; I think I will just come out to them without thinking…”
Darryl: “If they are open to it, I don’t mind coming out as well but the thing is they are not…”
Kenny: “Yup, I know what you mean… Especially Pa last sentence… And that is where I am really glad we decided not to come out else I really don’t know will I ever see you again…”
Darryl: “Of course you will, but I think they will just get really upset…”
Kenny: “Yup… Thanks again for helping me resolve this awkward situation…”
Darryl: “You’re welcome, Mrs Tay…”
Kenny: “What are you talking to Ma just now? Seems very secretive…”
Darryl: “Nothing much… Just asking her to keep a promise for me not to tell my parents about me attempting suicide…”
Kenny: “And what did she say?”
Darryl: “Well, she told me to be strong, as this is the cycle of life… Something that nobody can escape so we just have to face it positively… And she said that if I need to talk, I can always call her… Don’t keep it to myself…”
Kenny: “I see… Anything else I need to know, Mrs Chew?”
Darryl: “Erm… I told her about the ring also… I said that if she is not comfortable with the same ring idea then we can take it off…”
Kenny: “What?! You really said that??? But why?”
Darryl: “Because I think they are really concerns about us wearing the same ring so I think it best for me to…”
Kenny: “Then what she said? Please don’t tell me she wants us to take it off…”
Darryl: “OK, she doesn’t want us to take it off…”
Kenny: “Really?”
Darryl: “Yup… I explained to her about the ring also… Or should I say lied to her… Feel so bad though…”
Kenny: “Well, I guess we have no choice until we are sure they are really ok with our relationship…”
Darryl: “Of course I know about that… Now thinking back on what happen, it really weird how this conversation actually comes out though…”
Kenny: “I was shocked too… But well, we managed to put it off for a while so we did a good job I guess… And now back to us…”
Darryl: “What about us?”
Kenny: “Why do you tell them that I only moving in next month? I thought we agree on tonight? And now see what you have done… I am still lying in my own bed…”
Darryl: “Frankly, I also don’t know why I tell them that… “
Kenny: “Huh?!”
Darryl: “Just that at that moment of time, I feel that i should just take their son away like that… So I just say next month… At least give them time to adjust I guess…”
Kenny: “Hmmm…”
Darryl: “I know what you thinking… But then I think like that it also good for us what… Got more time to redo this place a bit as well…”
Kenny: “But i…”
Darryl: “Yes, I know you want me by your side… You can still come over anytime… You have the keys and everything here… So anytime… Just not official only what… You sounded like I banning you from coming like that…”
Kenny: “No… I just miss sleeping with you…”
Darryl: “Erm… Now you can say that but after staying with me for long, you will say different already lor…”
Kenny: “No I won’t… “
Darryl; “Yes you will…”
Kenny: “I will show you I won’t…”
Darryl: “OK OK… We shall see…”
Kenny: “Hey…”
Darryl: “OK la… I going to dry up and then go to bed… It’s near 1am already… You better go to sleep as well… Tomorrow need to work…”
Kenny: “OK… You sleep tight…”
Darryl: “You too… Good night, Mrs Tay”
Kenny: “Good Night, Mrs Chew… Love you…”
Darryl: “I love you too… Night…”

Love Is... (Part 71 - Coming Part? 2)

After IKEA, Darryl drove Kenny back home to collect some of his personal items… But the problem here is how to tell Kenny’s parent about Kenny heading over to Darryl’s place to stay…

So at the carpark…

Darryl: “How are you going to tell your parents?”
Kenny: “Well I am thinking of coming out to them as well…”
Darryl: “NO!!!” Darryl shouted
Kenny: “Why the response? Thought we already agreed while we are at IKEA…”
Darryl: “No, we didn’t agree on coming out to our parents…”
Kenny: “So what the problem? We just come out lor…”
Darryl: “Dear, it’s not that easy…”
Kenny: “What’s wrong again?”
Darryl: “It’s not about coming out or not… It’s about how our parents will see us…”
Kenny: “How will they see us? Normal la…”
Darryl: “Dear, how long have we known each other?”
Kenny: “20 years...”
Darryl: “And so that mean our parents know each other for 20 years as well, right?”
Kenny: “Yes… and so?”
Darryl: “So how would you like to know that your son is having sex with his best friend who they have known for 20 years as well and maybe been treating him like a son or expecting their son to treat him like a brother?”
Kenny: “Erm…”
Darryl: “Dear, you get what I mean now… I seriously don’t think that they will ever be ready to want to know… Seriously, I also feel like coming out of the closet because it just too tiring to answer their questioning or should I say interrogation on where is my girlfriend and stuff but then I don’t think I can be that selfish…”
Kenny: “Then what shall we do?”
Darryl: “Well, I guess in front of them we should just behave like we used to be… No difference should be made…. Ultimately, they are conservative and traditional… Do you seriously think that they can take it if we come out to them?”
Kenny: “Erm… Maybe we should test market?”
Darryl: “Huh, Test market?”
Kenny: “Yup, anyway I am going to stay with you from now on… So I guess we can hint to them a bit and see how they react?”
Darryl: “Like how?”
Kenny: “Don’t know but I think I will think of something later…”
Darryl: “But you better don’t do things harshly…”
Kenny: “Promise… You are such a wonderful guy… So fortunate, I am with you else I am so jealous if I see you with another guy…”
Darryl: “Ya ya… Stop the buttering… Let’s head up… I’m kind of curious on how you going to test market…”
Kenny: “Erm… I don’t know also… Hahaha… Let’s go… Mrs Chew”
Darryl: “Yes, Mrs Tay… Hahaha… Hey let’s go to fruit stall to buy them their favourite fruits…”
Kenny: “Wah!!! Someone trying to buy over his in laws wor…”
Darryl: “Please… I’m already part of your family as far as they are concern… What’s there to buy over…”
Kenny: “Hahaha… Ya part of u in me when in bed…”
Darryl: “Hey…”

At Kenny’s place, Darryl was greeted by a warm hug from the parents… Well, it seriously been quite a while since Darryl saw them… Darryl sat down and chatted with them… Then Kenny said…

Kenny: “Ma and Pa… I got something to tell you…”
Ma: “Go ahead…”
Kenny: “I’m thinking of shifting to Darryl’s place…”
Pa: “Why?”
Kenny: “Nothing just that easier for me to go work and stuff…”
Pa: “OK… You go ahead la…” Darryl and Kenny were surprised on how easy this is…
Kenny: “So you ok with it?”
Pa: “Well, you are a guy and I think it time for you to be independent… Also I know Darryl will take care of you since you guys know each other for 20 years already so I know you will be ok…Even if you are not, you can always come back…”
Ma: “Yes… You are old enough to know what is right and wrong for you... Just don’t anyhow outside can liao…”
Darryl: “Don’t worry, Auntie… Don’t think he dare to… especially with me around him all time… I help u spy on him… Hahaha”
Ma: “No need so serious… I know my son well… He is a good boy plus you also good boy… So I am not worry at all…”
Pa: “So when you thinking of shifting out…” Before Kenny can said anything, Darryl interrupted…
Darryl: “Maybe next month… I need to do some minor renovation as well…” Kenny looked at Darryl wondering what is going on…
Pa: “OK… Ma, you ok?”
Ma: “Yes…”
Darryl: “Why not you guys chat for a while and I go cut some fruits?”
Ma: “No No… Let me do it…”
Darryl: “Auntie, you sit down and chat with them… I go do it…”
Ma: “Aiyo, you are the guest…”
Darryl: “Auntie, I been in and out of this house for 20 years already, I no longer see myself as a guest…”
Pa: “Hahaha… Then you should stop calling us uncle and auntie already… You are like a son to us… So just follow Kenny and call us ma and pa…”
Darryl: “Erm… OK”
Ma: “Ok Ok… The knife and the board are at…”
Darryl: “Auntie, I know…”
Ma: “Still call Auntie…”
Darryl: “Need some getting use to… I guess… OK. I go cut the fruits…” Both of them let out a smile and Darryl went into the kitchen leaving the 3 of them to talk…

As he was cutting up the fruits, he feel good about being acknowledge as part of the family but it also make thing much more difficult for both of them as he start to realize that maybe thing will be much easier if his lover is not Kenny… Not that he regretting anything but then it just starting to get a little bit more out of hands and thus he need to keep thing in control so that whatever both of them do will not directly or indirectly hurt the elders… But yet, he hopes that everything will turn out fine… Now he left the living room, he just praying hard that Kenny will not say anything wrong to upset them…

He walks out of the kitchen with a plate full of fruits and he saw the 3 of them happily chatting and enjoying every moment make him remember his time with grandmother… He looks at them enviously…

Kenny called out to him and helps him with the plate of fruits… They just sat there and chatted till dinner time… Darryl decided to bring them out for a nice yet simple dinner so while the parents get dressed… Kenny and Darryl sat at the living room

Kenny: “What is wrong with you? Why tell them I only going over next month?”
Darryl: “What? Dear, it not a good time to get mad or stuff… We talk about it later… OK? I love you…”
Kenny: “I love you too but I want to stay with you like immediate…” Kenny pouted his lips..
Darryl: “Stop behaving like a kid... You know I wanted to as well but….we talk later… OK…” Darryl gives a quick peck on Kenny lip…
Kenny: “I want some more…”
Darryl: “Hey… Behave… they are coming out…”
Kenny: “Always tease me…”
Darryl: “OK OK… Later make it up to you…”
Kenny: “OK…”
Darryl: “What have I got myself into? Haiz… Such a big baby… hahahaha”
Kenny: “Too bad you are stick with me for the rest of your life…”
Darryl: “You so sure? I can change my heart anytime…”
Kenny: “Hey… You dare…”
Darryl: “Well, now thinking of it… not a bad idea also… Hahahaha…”
Kenny: “Fine…Go ahead then…”
Darryl: “Hahahaha….. Anyway, let go to East Coast for dinner…”
Kenny: “You decide la, Mrs Chew”
Darryl: “Yes, Mrs Tay…. Hahahah”

So off they go and headed to East Coast Park… At the dinner, all of them were in jovial mood… They chatted, joked and Kenny’s dad actually talks about how he woo Kenny’s mother… It was hilarious yet romantic listening to the love story… Then comes the bomb…

Pa: “You know sometime your ma and I wondered are you guys together?”
Kenny: “Huh!”
Pa: “You know like a couple…”
Darryl: “What make you think so?”
Pa: “Well you see… you see… Aiya, I don’t know how to say… Ma, you say la…”
Ma: “Well, one thing for sure… you guys are wearing the same ring on the wedding finger…”
Kenny: “Oh erm… well it a bvlgari ring so it common for people to get the same one…”
Ma: “Well, boys… we are not so naïve that we do not know what is going on with you guys…”

Suddenly to jovial dinner turn into a stern interrogation…
