Love Is... (Part 79 - The Gifts)

Back at home…

Darryl was busy preparing dinner at the kitchen when Kenny arrived home… He put down his stuff and head to the kitchen… He gives Darryl a hug…

Kenny: “Mrs Chew, I am home”
Darryl: “I can hear you coming shouting from the door…”
Kenny: “Hahaha… So are you cooking today?”
Darryl: “Erm… Let me see… Winter melon soup, some fried vegetables, steam fish and also a fried egg with prawn… Enough?”
Kenny: “Are you kidding? You do realize it only the 2 of us only right?”
Darryl: “Yup but I seldom cook so might as well cook more and surprise you ma…”
Kenny: “You already surprise me when you say you are cooking… Thought of it, I have never eaten anything that you cook before…”
Darryl: “Of course you have… The breakfast you eat this morning don’t drop from the sky, Dear…”
Kenny: “Oh well… It just hotdogs, egg and bread… I can do that too…”
Darryl: “Fine, then you be cooking breakfast tomorrow for me then…”
Kenny: “No problem… Must reward my dear for cooking me dinner…”
Darryl: “We shall see whether you can wake up or not lar…”
Kenny: “I will…”
Darryl: “You go take a shower and nap… Once dinner ready, I will wake you up…”
Kenny: “Don’t want… I want to help… Let me go change first and I will be back… Or maybe I should just strip naked and be your naked assistant… Hahahaha…”
Darryl: “Ya Ya… You and your wonderful idea…”
Kenny: “Of course… Must reward you for working so hard… Oooo… I feel something”
Darryl: “Hey… Hands off… Wait I chop off your hand…”
Kenny: “You wouldn’t dare…”
Darryl: “I have the knife in my hand… Want to try…”
Kenny: “NO… Hahahaha… I go get change first and I will be out to help you…”

After dinner, both of them were sitting on the couch cuddling each other while Darryl told Kenny about the conversation he had with Robin at the airport before he departs.

Darryl: “You know though I am sad that he left, but somehow I feel happy for him because today there is just a glow in his face that had been missing for the past month when he was here…”
Kenny: “I am glad that you are feeling for him… Things might not be that bad after all… Who knows the next time we meet up again, he will be healthy than before…”
Darryl: “I hope so too…”
Kenny: “Oh yes, before I forget… I’ll be right back…”

Kenny stood up and walks into the bedroom… Within minute, he came back and sat right in between Darryl’s legs…

Kenny: “There you go… The present that Robin passed to me on the day of lunch”
Darryl: “Oh wait for mine…” Darryl stood up to get the presents and passed it to Kenny…
Kenny: “I wonder what so secretive about the presents… When he passed to me, he asked me to hand it over to you only on the day he left and also only to open it together with you…”
Darryl: “And these are what he passed me today as well and he said the same thing…”
Kenny: “So we got 2 presents each from Robin?”
Darryl: “I guess so…”
Kenny: “Ok… let’s open the earlier present first…”
Darryl: “OK”

They opened up the presents at the count of 3… Darryl got a pair of air ticket to France and Kenny got a pair of air ticket to Australia… Both of them are shocked… These are way too expensive to receive but both of them are smiling from ear to ear… Then they decided to open up the second presents… They open it up cautiously but a note was being attached to the box and required both of them to read it first before opening up the final wrapper… So Kenny took the note and read it out loud…

“To Darryl and Kenny,

Both of you must be wondering why am I doing this. Well you see, when I first get to know that you 2 are getting together I didn’t really get you any gift for both of you. So the air tickets were kind of like making it up for it but the second present that you are going to open is an appreciation that I have for both of you staying a true friend to me and also Tommy…

Thank you for being my friend and thank you for showing what true friend I have… Tommy may not be with me anymore but I am happy that I still have both of you… My days maybe numbered,, maybe lengthen, maybe… I don’t know… But for the past months, you guys have showered me with lots of love that I will never forget… This is just a small token from my heart to you guys… What you given me is priceless…

Darryl hugs Kenny from the back and look at him…

“Thank you, Mrs Tay…”

“Thank you, Mrs Chew”

They open the box together and inside the box… Darryl’s box contains a beautiful watch and Kenny has an identical piece but that’s not all… Inside each box, there is another smaller box inside… They open the box up and it a pair of bracelets…

Darryl: “Wow…”
Kenny: “I’m speechless…”
Darryl: “He must have spent a fortune on all the gifts… Think I should give him a call to thank him personally…”
Kenny: “Don’t think you need to…”
Darryl: “Huh?”
Kenny: “Read this line…”

“Kenny, please ensure Darryl enjoy the gifts and stop him from calling me to thank me… This is your job because I know he will do that… Thanks… Robin”

Darryl: “WTF!!! How does he know I going to do that?”
Kenny: “Because he is your best friend… Hahaha”
Darryl: “Fine… I will not call him then… Prove him wrong… But he really spends a lot on the gift… He should use the money to treat himself and not spend on us…”
Kenny: “I am sure he knows what he is doing…”
Darryl: “What are we going to do with so many air tickets?”
Kenny: “Erm… Go for our honeymoon again…”
Darryl: “Well then you better check the validity of the air tickets so that we can make the arrangement…”
Kenny: “This is so exciting… We are going to France… Wooo Hooo!!!!”
Darryl: “Yes, we are going to France…”
Kenny: “So how many days leave you still have?”
Darryl: “I think I still about 12days or so”
Kenny: “I don’t have that much… How to go 2 places like that?”
Darryl: “Mrs Tay, let us call the airline and check how we can use the ticket and make the arrangement… Wouldn’t it be better?”
Kenny: “OK… I call now…”

Kenny got up immediately and makes the phone call… Darryl is totally clueless about the conversation he had but judging from his tone… It must be good news… He hang up the phone and skipped back to Darryl… Yes… He skipped….

Kenny: “Ok… here is the plan… We go to France next month and then next year, we go Australia…”
Darryl: “Wah… Plan already made?”
Kenny: “No… Nothing confirm… I just telling you what is the recommendation from the airlines…”
Darryl: “So what they say?”
Kenny: “What I just tell you lor... Go to France to experience winter and then Australia for the spring…”
Darryl: “Any restriction on where to go in Australia?”
Kenny: “Nope… Apparently it an open ticket for both… Depend on where to go and will then charge accordingly by the airlines…”
Darryl: “OK… So what’s now?”
Kenny: “So now it’s time to google… Hahaha”
Darryl: “OK… I do France and you do Australia…”
Kenny: “Yes, Dear… Oh I forget to tell you, I make a call to Robin as well…”
Darryl: “Huh? Did you?”
Kenny: “Yup… Hehehe… Did u hear me keep thanking someone?”
Darryl: “Yes… You mean that is Robin? Why don’t ask me on the phone?”
Kenny: “Well, he asked me to control you ma but he never say I cannot call him to thank him what…”
Darryl: “True…”
Kenny: “I feel better too to thank him for the present… I told him that we will bring souvenir for him when we visit him…”
Darryl: “Nice work, Mrs Tay…”
Kenny: “Of course, if not, how you fall in love with me?”
Darryl: “By you forcing me… Hahahaha”
Kenny: “Hey….” Kenny started to tickle Darryl till Darryl beg for forgiveness….
