It’s been more than 6 months since Robin returned to Singapore… He is kind of settling down nicely back in Singapore.
Nothing major happens this few months except that friendship with Kelvin blossom and Kelvin got attached… There also been some minor fight between Darryl and Kenny but everything got resolved because they have Robin as their love doctor… As Robin always mentioned to them…
“It always tough to stay together but it a choice to make things works…”
Keeping this in mind though they may have difference in living habit, they manage to work things out and compromised. So staying together is not that bad…
But something does worry Darryl a bit… He noticed that Robin has been losing quite a fair bit of weight since he is back to Singapore and been getting sick relatively frequent. It’s something that Darryl doesn’t really understand… Robin has been going to the doctor frequently to get himself check and have been taking medication but instead of getting better, he is getting weaker by the days… So one day during dinner at home, Darryl brought this up to Kenny
Darryl: “Mrs Tay, Can I ask you something?”
Kenny: “Sure, love… What is it?”
Darryl: “Have you notice something different about Robin lately?”
Kenny: “Are you talking about the weight loss?”
Darryl: “You mean you noticed it as well?”
Kenny: “Yes, I was also going to talk to you about this as you have been visiting the doctor with him on and off so did the doctor said anything?”
Darryl: “Actually frankly speaking, though I was there with him, I didn’t really go in with him as he always asks me to wait for him… So I don’t really know what the doctor said to him… But he did say that he is doing well and doctor just gives him prescription to continue with it…”
Kenny: “Hmmm… Maybe we need to talk to him…”
Darryl: “I was actually thinking you need to talk to him…”
Kenny: “Me? Why me only?”
Darryl: “Erm… Because you are more control and sensible in this area… You know how I will react and I don’t want to add on addition stress to him… Plus with me around, he may not talk much…”
Kenny: “True also… But what do you want me to talk to him about?”
Darryl: “I don’t know either maybe tried to check with him his condition if possible… I am sure you will know what to say when you meet him because you are worried about him as much as I do…”
Kenny: “Yes I am but why always me?”
Darryl: “Because I love you and you are the best…”
Kenny: “Yes I know… But that doesn’t mean I have to do this ma… It’s so difficult to do such thing…”
Darryl: “Please, Mrs Tay… Please… I will do anything for you too…”
Kenny: “Anything….?”
Darryl: “Yes… anything…”
Kenny: “Then you go talk to him…”
Darryl: “Except for this… You know I will go crazy…”
Kenny: “OK OK… I go call him now and talk to him…”
Darryl: “No… Do it face to face…”
Kenny: “So many request one… Anymore?”
Darryl: “Nothing le… Just fix lunch appointment with him and talk to him…”
Kenny: “OK OK… You go call him”
Darryl: “Why me?”
Kenny: “Don’t you think it will be weird that I am calling to have lunch?”
Darryl: “But in that case, he will expect me to be around…”
Kenny: “Haiz, I just tell him u busy with work la… so cannot join us… You mean I still need to teach you such simple stuff…”
Darryl: “Oh ya… Darryl let out a silly laugh…
It was Wednesday and today Kenny will be meeting Robin for lunch… Darryl was really very tempted to join them but knowing himself on how he will react, he finally decided against it to tag along… So he waited patiently in the office for Kenny’s update… Ok maybe not really patiently as he is totally impatient and keep looking at his phone worrying that he got a missed call from Kenny…
Finally, the phone rings… He looks at the phone and it is Robin…
Darryl: “Hello, Robin…”
Robin: “Hey… You must be wondering why I am calling you.”
Darryl: “Yes… Aren’t you having lunch with Kenny? Sorry I can’t make it…”
Robin: “Don’t worry about it… I was just talking to Kenny and he said that you guys are really worried about me due to my weight loss lately… So I guess it easier if you be hearing from me instead… Is this a good time to talk?”
Darryl: “Yes of course… In fact I was just going to call Kenny…”
Robin: “OK, so you want to be join us?”
Darryl: “Erm… No la… Will be quite rushing for me… So what’s up?” Darryl trying to control himself... Not sure why but he feel like something bad going to come out from Robin…
Robin: “Actually what I am going to tell you may not be something that you really wanted to hear… But I guess since you guys have been so concern over my condition… I think it just right for me to tell you about it…”
Darryl: “OK…”
Robin: “I have decided to head back to Thailand next month and be with Tommy… I can’t stay here… I’ve been telling myself that I want to stay here but for the past 6 months, I am struggling…And it been hard… Yes I know I need to wake up and face the reality that he is gone but I miss him so much… I’m not sure whether you know what I am talking about but I don’t think I can stay here anymore… Or maybe I should say I don’t want to stay here anymore… I miss him and I miss the place where I called home with him… I don’t think I will be happy here… I really don’t think I am…”
Darryl: “You really think so...”
Robin: “Don’t get this the wrong way… It’s not about you or Kenny or anyone here… It’s me… I just don’t want to stay here… I want to be with him… from where he is… from where I call home…”
Darryl: “Ever thought of bringing him here and restart a new home…”
Robin: “It’s not the same… Those memories I have with him when he a still around is something that I will never ever be able to recreate anymore… I really don’t think I can do this here anymore… It is easier for me there…”
Darryl: “But you are all alone there without any friends…”
Robin: “I have him… And at this point, I think this is what I really want… To be with him or closer to him…”
Darryl: “I….”
Robin: “Don’t try to persuade me anymore… I have made up my mind…”
Darryl: “Not going to…”
Robin: “Really?”
Darryl: “Yup… As much as I will worried for you and I don’t think I should force you to be here… Though I really hope you can reconsider or come back soon when you feeling better…”
Robin: “I will… I promise…”
Darryl: “So when are you leaving…”
Robin: “November 25…”
Darryl: “OK… I will take leave to send you…”
Robin: “OK… Thanks so much…”
Darryl: “We will get together this weekend…”
Robin: “Sure…”
Darryl: “I will call you again to arrange…”
Robin: “OK…”
Darryl: “I got to run for a meeting now… I talk to you later…”
Darryl hanged up and tears flow down his cheeks... He wonders did he make a mistake by asking Robin to come back and suffer for 6 months… Did he cause Robin into this state? Is he the cause of everything? He always thought that Robin is happy here but today the truth is told… He is not… But is this the reason why he is losing so much weight…. His phone ring again…. It’s Kenny…
Kenny: “Hello…” and Darryl just broke down and cry…
