Darryl & Kenny (Part 14 - Kelvin)

The night was unbearable for Darryl as he keeps having spasm, even with just a light touch will send him into spasm and to make thing worst, he is vomiting non stop throughout… It even brought him to tears…. Kenny was so helpless… Finally the doctor came and injects some medication to relieve Darryl and help to sleep… However nurse still come almost every 2hrs to check on him.

The next morning, Darryl feels slightly better as the vomiting has finally stop but not the spasm though… Lionel dropped to visit before his shift started and even brought a bouquet of flower along…

“Awww…. That so sweet of you…” Darryl said.

“Don’t mention… Just a formality… hahaha… Anyway I will drop later again in the evening to maybe catch up with you 2…”

“Sure…”

With that, Lionel went for his shift and Kenny heading for home as well… Darryl was alone in the ward when Kelvin comes by shortly after Kenny left…

Kelvin: “Hey… Are you OK?”
Darryl: “Hey… Thanks for coming… Am feeling better… U just missed Kenny…”
Kelvin: “I know I saw him… I purposely missed him…”
Darryl: “Why?”
Kelvin: “I feel really bad and been blaming myself that I am the one to blame for you lying here… and I don’t know how to face Kenny..”
Darryl: “Don’t be so silly… Has nothing to do with you… It’s my own recklessness that got me here… Don’t blame yourself at all…”
Kelvin: “But….”
Darryl: “No more but… It’s really not your fault…”
Kelvin: “I just don’t know what to say… After the conversation and you are in the hospital… And I don’t know how to tell Kenny…”
Kenny: “I already know…”

Both Darryl and Kelvin look toward the entrance and Kenny was standing right there. Kelvin was shocked but Darryl was relaxed…

Darryl: “Thought you went home...”
Kenny: “Decided to get you some bread just in case your parent run late and you feel hungry…”
Darryl: “Thanks… You are the sweetest…”
Kenny: “I know… I shall leave you two to sort thing among yourself…”
Darryl: “OK… Love you…”
Kenny: “Love you too…”

During this whole time, Kelvin just keeps his head low and keeps quiet. He only acknowledge when Kenny bid goodbye to him... Darryl was looking at him when finally he look up to Darryl…

Darryl: “What’s wrong?”
Kelvin: “I just don’t know how to put it in words…”
Darryl: “Already tell you it has nothing to do with you… It my own recklessness that get me into this…”
Kelvin: “It’s not about that…”
Darryl: “Then?”
Kelvin: “Can you imagine how I am feeling now when i heard he says he love you?”
Darryl: “Ermmm….”
Kelvin: “I thought I can hold my feeling for you but after the kiss and the sort of confession, it just blew out of proportion now… It’s hurt me so much to hear that from you now…”
Darryl: “But we have always been doing that so what difference does it make now?”
Kelvin: “Because I love you too…”
Darryl: “I love you too but as a buddy and friend… I cannot give you what you want from me because I love Kenny so much… I cannot deny the fact that there are times I feel stranded in this monogamous relationship and wanted to break free but I just cannot do it… I just don’t have the guts to hurt him or make him sad…I feel so bad when he was here with me last night yet grateful that he didn’t leave me here alone… I cannot give him the best in term of materials but I have to at least try to give him “ME”… And that is what I wanted to give him now… He deserve so much more…”
Kelvin: “I am not asking much but just being with you…”
Darryl: “You are my best friend and close pal beside Robin and Kenny… I don’t want anything to change or any awkwardness between us… I don’t want you out of my life or anything of that sort but I can never love you the way I love Kenny… I don’t deny that night I feel nice talking to you and opening up to you… And frankly, I haven’t have much chance to do that with Kenny and it does make my heart that very moment but when I woke up and think it through while I was driving to work… I realized something… And that is I love you but not the same way as my love for Kenny…”
Kelvin: “You know I don’t even mind having a 3 way relationship… “
Darryl: “Don’t be silly… You deserve so much better… You are a good guy why want to settle for a 3 way relationship when you can someone who loves with everything he has… So why do you want to do this to yourself?”
Kelvin: “So that I can with you…”
Darryl: “Are you not being with me now? Everything we share and done so far, are you telling me all these are unreal? And you are doing these just so you can get near to me…?”
Kelvin: “No… I love being with you but I wanted more than friends… I just wanted more than that… There are time, I imagine myself in your arms,, I imaging myself kissing you and even making love to you… The person next to you is not Kenny but me… I even mistaken Zac for you…”
Darryl: “I….”
Kelvin: “I don’t know what is wrong with me… I know you are happily attached and I know your love for Kenny will never change for now… But I just hope… I just hoping that… that…. I can be yours…”
Darryl: “I don’t want to lose you…”
Kelvin: “I can no longer control myself for not loving you… I can no longer hide it… I don’t want to be just friend… I don’t know why am I doing this to myself but I just cannot take it anymore… I just cannot…”

Kelvin turn around and walk out of the ward… Darryl tried to stop him but he is in tremendous pain when he tries to move… He sees Kelvin walk out and think

“Will I ever see you again? Is this the end of our friendship….”
