During the whole night, nurse keep coming in and out of the room taking Kenny temperature as well monitor his blood pressure… Though Darryl knows it is just a normal procedure but it just kind of worrying to see him going through it… Weird feeling… And due to these, Kenny didn’t really get enough sleep; Darryl will try to put him to sleep again… This goes on for at least 3 times during the night…
In the morning, Dr Lionel came by to check out Kenny before he off duty. Darryl was kind of grateful for the thing that he has done thus he invited him for a coffee at the cafeteria... Darryl feed Kenny his cereal and then put him to rest before making his way down to the cafeteria.
At the cafeteria, Darryl met up with Dr Lionel…

Darryl: “How can I not be? Seeing him having all the drip and needle really hurt me… But I guess he will be well taken care of here… I hope…”

Darryl: “Anyway thanks for taking care of him last night…”
Lionel: “I’m just doing my duty… Don’t worry so much… He will be doing fine… Just need to monitor closely on his blood platelets…”
Darryl: “I know…”
Lionel: “Anyway, just curious… When you actually mentioned that you are his partner, you do mean as…. Erm… How to put it?”
Darryl: “He is my lover”
Lionel: “Oh Ok…”
Darryl: “Anything wrong with it?”
Lionel: “Not really though… Guess just got by surprise as not many people will tell me this… Usually will be friends, or close friend or roommates… hahaha”
Darryl: “Hahaha… I know what you mean… Actually I was thinking along that line too but just do not know why it just came out of my mouth as partner… Guess i'm just to worry for him that in the end i didn't think straight... Hope it doesn't scare you or anything... hahaha”
Lionel: “ Not at all... I see lots of people everyday so I guess I will be able to pick some radar as well… Hahaha…”
Darryl: “Okay… So you mean…”
Lionel: “No No… I am not gay… Hahaha… I just recently engaged…”
Darryl: “Hahaha… I’m not asking about that… But anyway, congratulation…”
Lionel: “Oh… Hahaha… Guess I jump into my own defense…”
Darryl: “Yes…”

Darryl: “How do I know I’m gay?”

Darryl: “Well, I guess I just know it… Of course there is a certain stage where I am confused by my own action as well… You know the phase trying to date girl and see whether I got feeling for girls or not… But as the time goes by, I just knew it or should I say it just get clearer.”
Lionel: “Same goes for Kenny?”
Darryl: “Yup… You can say we have our fair share of girlfriends… Hahaha… But nothing work out…Hahaha”
Lionel: “How long have you been together?”
Darryl: “To be exact, we been together for 20 years…”
Lionel: “What!!! But you look so young…”
Darryl: “Guess the Botox work… Hahaha”
Lionel: “Really?”
Darryl: “No la… We are childhood friends…”
Lionel: “Oh okay… hahaha”
Then they started chatting about their relationship and stuff during the one hour coffee chat… Darryl was caught by surprise on how well he get along with Lionel… Well, it always good to have a new friend in life…
Back at the ward, Kenny was being examined by the specialist. Darryl was up just in time when the examination completed… He was being updated that Kenny may need more platelets transfusion as his blood test shows it still at a alarming stage but the good thing is fever has subsided…
Darryl approached Kenny and said that he will be informing Kenny’s parent but Kenny refrain him from doing so as he do not want his parents to be worried about him or see him when the transfusion take place… But this time round, Darryl insisted and so he made the call in front of Kenny…
Within an hour, Kenny’s parents were in the hospital ward… The mother was crying and the father was pretty anxious of what is going on… It took both of them at least 30 minutes to calm the parents down… They purposely leave out the part on the platelets transfusion after seeing their initial reactions… After talking to them, both Kenny and Darryl thought they have really done a good job in hiding certain information from them.
Darryl took the effort to send them home… But again it was kind of a wrong move, during the ride, only more “interrogation” from them... He find it hard to answer all of their questions but he still managed to “pass” as they got off the car feeling better…
After sending them home, Darryl went home to pick up some fresh underwear and some toiletries for Kenny as well some fruits and food before heading back to the hospital.
Back in the hospital, Kenny is undergoing his 2nd platelets transfusion. Darryl saw the platelets hanging above Kenny and a container at the side… He walked up to Kenny and he saw that Kenny is tearing… He held on to Kenny’s hand for support… He knew that Kenny scared. He knew that Kenny is worried… Darryl feel like a knife was cutting through his heart… Seeing the tears of Kenny… It just hurt so much…
Darryl: “Dear, don’t cry… I’m back… Sorry to take so long…”
Kenny: “I’m ok… Just have a weird feeling… Seeing the platelets slowing dripping into my body… Just have the thought of if I not here now, I would have been dead…
Darryl: “NO… Don’t say that… I will never let it happen just like you will never let it happen to me… So don’t ever say that again…”
Kenny: “Just a thought I guess… A very scary one…”
Darryl: “Don’t think about it… I’m here and I will be here every day till you discharge... I will not leave you here alone… I went home just now and packed some new underwear and toiletries…”
Kenny: “Thanks”
Darryl: “You’re a fighter and you will get well so we can go for our honeymoon… Just don’t think too much and concentrate of getting well…”
Kenny: “I am so glad you come back when I’m doing the transfusion… I am really scare and lost when I am here alone… I really scared without you around me…”
Darryl: “Sorry Sorry… I will be here and not leave you again… Hang in there, Mrs Tay… Everything will be fine… Everything will be fine…. Tears start falling from Darryl’s eyes and Kenny’s too…
A total of 6 packets of platelets were again transfusion into Kenny’s body… Darryl was actually praying hard that this will be the last time for the transfusion… Nothing means more to him now that seeing Kenny getting well and both of them can resume their daily life together… They held each other hands and give each other the support each other require… And slowly both of them drifted into sleep…
