After spending 5 long days in the hospital, Kenny is finally discharging today… It just lifted a big stone off Darryl’s chest… Though thing are already getting better but every time Darryl heads toward the hospital, he just worried that something bad will happen… Maybe the thought of Kenny in hospital really scared him to a point that he may be losing him and now finally, Kenny can go home… Darryl was actually going to pick him up from the hospital but a last minute meeting changes everything… He gives Kenny a call to inform him of it…
Darryl: “Dear, I can’t make it to pick you up… My boss suddenly called for an urgent meeting…”
Kenny: “It’s OK… I should be able to make my way back safe and sound…”
Darryl: “Huh… I get someone to pick you up…”
Kenny: “No need la… I am fine…”
Darryl: “Don’t want… I call Kelvin…”
Kenny: “Dear… Relax… I’m ok… and I will be home ok… You will see me at home the first thing you open the door…”
Darryl: “You just discharged and weak…”
Kenny: “I’m not… I’m doing ok… I will call you the moment I reached home ok?”
Darryl: “You sure? And you must call me the first thing you reached home…”
Kenny: “Yes, Mr Tay… I will do that…And if I can’t get you, I will sms you and you call me back when you free”
Darryl: “But I still feel…”
Kenny: “Aiyo, don’t worry… I can take care of myself…I am a big boy now…” And this sentence brings a smile to Darryl…
Darryl: “OK… But be careful, ok…”
Kenny: “I will and I will call you later…”
Darryl: “OK… See you tonight…”
Kenny: “Yup… You will sure see me unless you want otherwise…”
Darryl: ‘Nonsense… You be careful… I will call you later…”
Kenny: “OK… You better concentrate in your meeting and don’t worry too much”
Darryl: “OK… Bye…”
After they hanged up, Darryl tried to organize himself but he is still worry and without knowing it, he dialed his phone to Kelvin and check with him whether he can pick Kenny up on his behalf.
Darryl: “Hey, Kel… How are you doing?”
Kelvin: “Hey… I’m doing ok… So what’s up?”
Darryl: “Erm… I was wondering whether you can help me pick Kenny up from the hospital today as he is discharging today…”
Kelvin: “Oh god what happen to him?”
Darryl: “Erm… He was down with dengue fever so got admitted 5 days ago…”
Kelvin: “What?! That serious?”
Darryl: “Yup… There is even a stage where his condition was so critical that blood platelets transfusion has to be done…”
Kelvin: “That is serious…”
Darryl: “So I was wondering whether you can do me this favour because I am stuck in the office for a meeting”
Kelvin: “No problem… I am quite free today but what time he is discharging…”
Darryl: “Likely by 1 – 2…”
Kelvin: “OK… I will be there before that in case of earlier discharge…”
Darryl: “Thanks, Kel… Really appreciated it… I owe you one”
Kelvin: “Hey… Don’t mention though I should be angry with you for not informing me earlier…”
Darryl: “Sorry about it… I really didn’t mean to…”
Kelvin: “I know… You are just too engrossed with the fact that your lover is in the hospital…”
Darryl: “Yup I guess so… Oh… Can you do me a favour?”
Kelvin: “OK that will be 2 favours… So what is it?”
Darryl: “Erm… Do not tell him that I ask you to go and pick him up because he will think that I am paranoid or something…”
Kelvin: “Hahaha…. This is easy… But also funny… Paranoid!!! Hahaha…”
Darryl: “Ok Ok… go ahead and laugh… but promise you will not let him know…”
Kelvin: “Don’t worry I just say you sms me a few days ago and I didn’t really have time to visit until today… In that case I should go earlier… Now is already like 10am… So he won’t suspect…”
Darryl: “Thank you so much… Dinner on me next time…”
Kelvin: “Don’t worry… I won’t fight with you on this… Hahaha…”
Darryl: “Thanks again…”
Now Darryl feel much better that Kenny will be driven back home then to take a cab and he can better concentrate on his work now… And he hopes the day will end much faster so that he can go home to Kenny…
Finally it time to go off, Darryl was happily packing up before his boss called on him to discuss something… Darryl tried his best to find an excuse to go off but Boss is Boss… He insisted that it will only take him 5 minutes… But the 5 minutes turned out to be 1hour and 20min to be exact… By the time, Darryl left office is already near 8pm…
He gives Kenny a call and then went to the market nearby to buy some porridge for Kenny before heading home… When he is home, he find Kenny lying on the bed… He put down his stuff and went to check on him…
Darryl: “Dear… you ok?”
Kenny: “Ya… Just down know why feel so sleepy once I hit home...”
Darryl: “Of course la… You didn’t really sleep well in the hospital plus my bed is definitely more comfy than the one in hospital… And most important, got my smell… Hahaha”
Kenny: “Ya Ya…”
Darryl: “I go and get the porridge for you…”
Kenny: “Later… you go shower first… I wait for you then eat together…”
Darryl: “OK… I’ll be very fast… Don’t want to starve my wife…”
Kenny: “You already did… Come home so late…”
Darryl: “Sorry Sorry… My stupid boss lor…”
Kenny: “Kidding only la… Go shower else I be really starving to death liao…”
Darryl: “You know I will not let it happen…” He lean forward and give Kenny a kiss on the lip…
Then during dinner, Kenny told Darryl about Kelvin visiting him and even got him a big teddy bear… he then tell Darryl about the coincidence when Darryl said he wanted to get Kelvin to pick him up and there he is appearing at the hospital… Darryl denied having anything to do with it… Kenny then said that he was actually thinking that Darryl has something to do with it… Darryl denied again…
After dinner, they sat at the couch and Darryl suggested to have a Christmas party as Christmas is just round the corner but Kenny was kind of thinking that it will be kind of rush for a party plus such last minute may not secure much friends…
Darryl: “Dear, we just do something small and invite a few friends for like gathering with gift exchange and maybe some simple games…”
Kenny: “But it so last minute, Christmas is like next week and we have no clue on catering so how are we going to make this happen…”
Darryl: “Well if the number of friends we having is around 10… I think I should be able to whip up a simple meal…”
Kenny: “You can?”
Darryl: “Of course... You should know by now…”
Kenny: “Well I do know you can fry vegetables, cook egg and stuff but I sure didn’t know you can cook Christmas meal…”
Darryl: “Well, then you need to do better in knowing me… Haiz… So sad…”
Kenny: “But then who shall we invite?”
Darryl: “Why not we come out of a simple guest list and then see the response...”
Kenny: “OK… You sure you going to do this…?”
Darryl: “Yes I am… Why? Scare I back out is it…”
Kenny: “Ya… Wait the guest list is too many for you to handle and you decided to back out… Hahaha…”
Darryl: “I will not… You wait and see…”
Kenny: “Is that a challenge?”
Darryl: “Well, I am sure up to it if you want to call it that way…”
Kenny: “Deal… It a challenge then… Leave the guest list to me and you will concentrate on the dinner…”
Darryl: “Deal…”
Kenny: “So let the planning beginning…”
They started to work separately on their item… Kenny in charge of guest list, door gifts and games… Darryl in charge of food… And everything is on a tight schedule of just 1 week from now…
